Privacy policy
As of 11 October 2026. This English version is provided for convenience. The German version is legally binding.
1. Controller
Green in Business GmbH
Gütersloher Straße 204, 33649 Bielefeld
Email: info@green-in-business.de, Phone: +49 521 9687 9507
2. Hosting
This website is hosted on Microsoft Azure (App Service) in the data centre location “West Europe” within the European Union. The provider is Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. When the site is accessed, the provider collects technically necessary data (see section 3). A data processing agreement in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.
3. Server log files
When visiting the site, data is automatically stored in server log files: IP address (truncated where possible), date and time, page accessed, amount of data transferred, browser and operating system. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data in the log files is retained only for as long as necessary for secure operation and is then deleted; any retention beyond that period is in anonymised form only, with no link to an individual.
4. Contact and enquiry form
If you send us an enquiry via the contact form or the Site Simulator, we process the data you provide (such as name, company, email, phone, location and the key parameters of your site) to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and steps prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The enquiry is delivered by email via Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited) to our inbox info@green-in-business.de; a data processing agreement in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR is in place for this as well. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose and no statutory retention periods prevent deletion.
5. Site Simulator and map service
The cost-benefit calculation in the Site Simulator is performed predominantly in your browser. For the aerial imagery display, address search, detection of parking areas and buildings, and yield data, we integrate external services, partly directly in the browser and partly via our server: Esri World Imagery (server.arcgisonline.com), the official aerial images from Geobasis NRW (wms.nrw.de), OpenStreetMap/Nominatim for address search, the OpenStreetMap Overpass services for area and building detection, and the Photovoltaic Information System PVGIS of the European Commission (re.jrc.ec.europa.eu) for radiation and yield data. Technically necessary data such as your IP address and the search term entered or the coordinates selected are transmitted to the respective provider. Your contact details are not transmitted to us until you deliberately submit the form.
6. Chat on the website
You can use the chat window to ask questions about our services. The response is generated by a language model that we operate on our own infrastructure in Germany, based solely on the content of this website; your questions are not transmitted to external AI providers. The responses are indicative and without guarantee and do not replace advice or a quotation.
We process the text of your questions, the responses, the page accessed, and the time of access. We do not store your IP address; to prevent abuse, we derive a non-reversible checksum from it, which allows us to limit the number of questions per sender. This data is stored in our customer system on Microsoft Azure in the data centre location “West Europe” within the European Union (data processing agreement in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR, see section 2) and is automatically deleted after 30 days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your questions (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
To ensure that responses are matched to the correct question, your browser stores a random conversation identifier in session storage for the duration of your visit; it is deleted when the tab is closed. This is strictly necessary for the chat you have requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). The chat does not set cookies.
If you leave your contact details in the chat so that we can get in touch, we process them together with the chat history in the same way as an enquiry via the contact form (section 4).
7. Embedded videos (YouTube)
On certain news pages we embed videos in YouTube’s enhanced privacy mode (youtube-nocookie.com, Google Ireland Limited). When such a page is loaded, a connection to Google’s servers is established and your IP address is transmitted; in enhanced privacy mode, YouTube sets cookies only when a video is played. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in presenting our content in an engaging way (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
8. Cookies
The website uses only technically necessary cookies and does not set any analytics, tracking, or marketing cookies. Should analytics or marketing services be introduced later, we will obtain your prior consent via a consent banner.
9. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. A consent you have given can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. Please contact us using the contact details given above.
10. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is the Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
